What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Artificial Intelligence Family Involvement Generative Agent (AIFIGA) program designed to enhance communication between nursing staff, residents, and their families in nursing homes. Over 18 months, the program will be developed using a mixed methods approach, incorporating observations and interviews to understand communication needs post-COVID-19. The AIFIGA program aims to facilitate real-time, interactive communication to improve health outcomes for all parties involved.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include nursing home residents aged 60 and older, their family caregivers aged 20 and above, and nursing staff who can communicate in Mandarin or Taiwanese.
Not a fit: Patients who do not meet the age or communication criteria, or those with severe cognitive impairments (MMSE score below the specified thresholds), may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the health and well-being of nursing home residents and enhance the support provided by their families and nursing staff.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in healthcare communication is emerging, this specific approach has not been widely tested, making it a novel initiative.
