What this trial studies
This project focuses on enhancing feedback-based learning for children diagnosed with developmental language disorder (DLD). The researchers aim to identify optimal conditions for feedback, manipulating factors such as timing (immediate vs. delayed) and learner involvement (active vs. passive correction). By tailoring feedback to the unique learning strengths of these children, the study seeks to improve their language intervention outcomes. The hypothesis is grounded in previous findings that suggest feedback processing in DLD can be made more effective.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children with developmental language disorder who primarily speak English and have a nonverbal IQ score above 70.
Not a fit: Patients with hearing loss, neurological deficits, or other specific diagnoses such as Autism or Traumatic Brain Injury may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve language learning outcomes for children with developmental language disorder.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, previous studies have indicated that optimizing feedback can enhance learning in similar populations, suggesting potential for success.
