What this trial studies

This study examines the effectiveness of an enhanced microenterprise intervention aimed at improving economic stability and promoting HIV preventive behaviors among economically vulnerable young adults in Baltimore. Approximately 780 participants aged 18 to 24 will be randomly assigned to either a control group receiving job announcements via text or an intervention group receiving job announcements along with educational sessions, mentorship, micro-grants, and behavioral economics messages related to HIV prevention. The intervention will last for 12 weeks, with follow-up surveys conducted over two years to assess the impact on participants' economic and health outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are African-American young adults aged 18 to 24 who are economically vulnerable, sexually active, and living in Baltimore.

Not a fit: Patients who are not economically vulnerable or are outside the age range of 18 to 24 may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance economic stability and reduce HIV risk behaviors among vulnerable young adults.
