What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance the early detection of breast and cervical cancers in Kenya, where late-stage diagnoses are common. It will evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of multicomponent strategies designed to increase cancer screening uptake among women aged 30 to 55. The study will implement community health volunteer-led education and practice facilitation to improve awareness and access to screening services. By conducting a pragmatic cluster randomized trial, the researchers will assess screening outcomes, including uptake, diagnostic test completion, and treatment initiation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 30 to 55 who are eligible for breast and cervical cancer screening and are not experiencing any symptoms of these cancers.

Not a fit: Patients who are currently pregnant or experiencing symptoms of breast or cervical cancer may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce breast and cervical cancer mortality rates by increasing early detection through improved screening access.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with community-based interventions to improve cancer screening rates, indicating that this approach has potential for effectiveness.
