Improving diagnosis of complex eye infections
Complex Ocular Infection, Optimization of Microbiological Diagnosis
Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris · NCT05432336
This study is testing new methods to improve how doctors diagnose complicated eye infections, like endophthalmitis and corneal abscesses, to see if they can better identify the germs causing these problems.

What this trial studies
This study evaluates new techniques to enhance the microbiological diagnosis of complex ocular infections, specifically endophthalmitis and corneal abscesses. It utilizes advanced molecular tools such as metagenomic sequencing for endophthalmitis and multiplex polymerase chain reaction for corneal abscesses. The goal is to determine the impact and accuracy of these methods in identifying the causative pathogens in these infections, which are often challenging to diagnose due to sample volume limitations and the complexity of the ocular site.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adult patients with a clinical suspicion of complex ocular infection requiring microbiological diagnosis.
Not a fit: Patients who are under guardianship or curatorship or pregnant women may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to faster and more accurate diagnoses of complex ocular infections, improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise with similar molecular diagnostic approaches, suggesting potential for success in this area.
