What this trial studies
This project aims to enhance the use of diabetes technology among Latinx adolescents with Type 1 diabetes (T1D) through a virtual peer group intervention called DREAM. The intervention was developed based on feedback from stakeholders, including youth, families, and healthcare providers, to address barriers to technology use. The study will evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of this intervention, as well as its impact on clinical and person-centered outcomes. By fostering connections and providing education, the program seeks to empower participants in managing their diabetes effectively.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Latinx adolescents aged 13-17 with Type 1 diabetes who are receiving care at specific participating medical centers.
Not a fit: Patients with medical, developmental, or psychiatric conditions that hinder peer group participation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve diabetes management and health outcomes for Latinx adolescents with T1D.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using peer support and education to improve health outcomes in diabetes management, indicating a promising approach.
