What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance the decision-making process for limited English proficient (LEP) patients, specifically Spanish-speaking individuals, who are seeking care for pelvic floor disorders. By understanding their preferences and improving communication between patients and physicians, the study seeks to foster shared decision-making, which is crucial for patient satisfaction and health outcomes. The intervention includes raising physician awareness and providing usual care to address the unique challenges faced by LEP patients. The study will involve patients presenting to the Loyola Urogynecology clinic for their initial evaluation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Spanish-speaking individuals who are seeking their initial evaluation at the Loyola Urogynecology clinic and are at least 18 years old.

Not a fit: Patients who are not Spanish-speaking or those who are established patients at the Loyola Urogynecology clinic may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved patient satisfaction and health outcomes for Spanish-speaking patients with pelvic floor disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research addressing health disparities among LEP patients, this specific approach focusing on shared decision-making in pelvic floor disorders is relatively novel.
