What this trial studies
This pilot study focuses on toddlers who are siblings of children with autism and are at high risk for language and communication delays. It aims to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of an adaptive parent-mediated intervention designed to enhance social communication skills. The study will involve ongoing monitoring and adjustments to the intervention based on the evolving needs of the children. By examining both child and family outcomes, the research seeks to refine intervention strategies for this vulnerable population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are toddlers who have a biological sibling diagnosed with autism and whose caregivers are willing to participate in the study.
Not a fit: Patients currently receiving early intervention services may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve social communication outcomes for toddlers at high risk of language delays.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically targeting this adaptive approach, similar interventions for communication delays in high-risk populations have shown promise.
