What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance the quality of care for patients diagnosed with locally advanced or metastatic bladder cancer by developing and evaluating a patient needs assessment screening tool. Participants, who are adults with Stage 4 incurable bladder cancer, will engage in focus groups, complete surveys, and utilize the screening tool to provide insights into their supportive care and educational needs. The data collected will be anonymized and linked to study ID numbers to ensure confidentiality. The ultimate goal is to establish a standard screening measure that can guide future care improvements.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with Stage 4 incurable locally advanced or metastatic bladder cancer who have started systemic treatment.
Not a fit: Patients with other advanced cancers requiring systemic therapy or those with conditions that may compromise their well-being or ability to participate will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better tailored supportive care and educational resources for patients with advanced bladder cancer.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is focused on developing a new screening tool, similar studies have shown success in improving patient care through needs assessments in oncology.
