What this trial studies
This pilot randomized trial aims to determine if a survivorship care plan enhanced by a geriatric assessment visit can improve quality of life and satisfaction with care for older adults who have completed chemotherapy for cancer. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving the enhanced care plan and the other receiving standard care. The study will measure outcomes such as satisfaction, health-related quality of life, and preparedness for survivorship care needs. The hypothesis is that the enhanced plan will yield better results than the standard approach.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adults aged 65 and above who have completed chemotherapy with curative intent for cancer.
Not a fit: Patients with advanced dementia or serious cognitive impairment, as well as nursing home residents, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the quality of life and care satisfaction for older cancer survivors.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in enhancing survivorship care through tailored assessments.
