What this trial studies

This study aims to enhance the care provided to sexual and gender minority seniors suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias by training long-term services and supports (LTSS) staff in culturally responsive care. It employs a randomized controlled trial design with three arms: in-person training, online training, and a waitlist control group. The study will assess the impact of these training methods on organizational factors and staff competencies over a six-month period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are licensed nursing and housing service providers in Minnesota who are willing to participate in training and assessments.

Not a fit: Patients who do not speak or read English may not benefit from this study due to language barriers in the training materials.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved care and support for LGBTQ seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia, enhancing their quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically targeting LGBTQ seniors with Alzheimer's, similar culturally responsive training programs have shown promise in improving care outcomes in other populations.
