What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of adding community services navigation to the standard referral process for addressing social needs in women who receive abnormal breast cancer screening results. By combining social needs referrals with a community services navigation intervention, the study aims to improve follow-up and screening outcomes among underserved populations. The approach focuses on enhancing access to necessary resources and support for women who may face barriers in healthcare.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are English and Spanish-speaking women who have received an abnormal result from a screening mammogram and report at least one social need.
Not a fit: Patients with a prior diagnosis of breast cancer will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve follow-up rates and outcomes for women with abnormal breast cancer screenings, particularly in underserved communities.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific combination of community services navigation and social needs referrals in breast cancer screening is relatively novel.
