What this trial studies
This study focuses on enhancing interoceptive abilities in individuals with eating disorders, which are often impaired. It aims to reconnect participants with their internal bodily sensations through an online intervention called 'Reconnecting to Internal Sensations.' By improving the perception of hunger, satiety, and emotional states, the study seeks to reduce symptoms associated with eating disorders. Participants will be recruited from the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders and will undergo this intervention to assess its effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 10 and older who have a clinical diagnosis of an eating disorder and are patients at the Louisville Center for Eating Disorders.
Not a fit: Patients under the age of 10 or those without a clinical diagnosis of an eating disorder may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the management and outcomes of eating disorders by enhancing patients' awareness of their bodily sensations.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have indicated that improving interoceptive awareness can positively impact eating disorder symptoms, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
