Improving balance and gait in stroke patients using lumbar mobilization techniques
Effects of Mulligan-Based Lumbar Mobilization on Trunk Position Sense, Balance, and Gait in Stroke Survivors: A Randomized Study
This study tests if a new way of moving the lower back, combined with regular therapy, can help people who had a stroke improve their balance and walking.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of Mulligan mobilization combined with conventional therapy to enhance gait, balance, and trunk position sense in stroke patients. Stroke often leads to significant balance impairments, increasing the risk of falls and reducing independence in daily activities. The research focuses on individuals who have experienced their first stroke and have been diagnosed within a specific timeframe. By targeting lumbar mobility and trunk stability, the study aims to improve rehabilitation outcomes for these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 30 to 65 who have experienced their first stroke between 6 to 24 months prior and have a Modified Rankin Scale score of 3 or less.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of musculoskeletal disorders affecting the spine or other neurological conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance balance and mobility in stroke patients, leading to improved independence and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While the Mulligan Concept has been effective in treating musculoskeletal disorders, its application in stroke rehabilitation is relatively novel and has limited prior research.
