Improving awareness of driving abilities in post-stroke patients
Promote Awareness of the Driving Abilities of Post-stroke Patients: Interest of On-board Cameras and Self-assessment Questionnaires During a Driving Situation.

What this trial studies
This study aims to enhance the awareness of driving capabilities among patients who have experienced a cerebrovascular accident (CVA). It involves a protocol where post-stroke patients receive video feedback on their driving abilities, compared to a control group that receives standard recommendations without video feedback. The goal is to assist multidisciplinary teams in making informed decisions about whether these patients can safely resume driving. By evaluating the effectiveness of video feedback, the study seeks to improve self-awareness and decision-making in post-stroke individuals regarding their driving skills.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals who have had a stroke within the last 1 to 6 months, hold a valid driving license, and are medically stable.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive impairments, significant visual disturbances, or those unable to provide informed consent may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help post-stroke patients better understand their driving abilities, potentially leading to safer driving decisions.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using video feedback is novel, similar studies have shown that awareness interventions can positively impact decision-making in rehabilitation settings.
