What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of an asthma navigator program designed to assist children with asthma and their caregivers who communicate in languages other than English. The program aims to provide tailored education and support through partnerships with community organizations, addressing disparities in asthma care. The study will assess the program's impact on emergency department visits and overall asthma management practices among participating families. Additionally, it will analyze the program's costs and adherence to its goals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include children aged 4-12 years with persistent asthma and their non-English speaking parents or guardians.
Not a fit: Patients who are English speakers or do not have persistent asthma will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve asthma management and health outcomes for children in non-English speaking families.
How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have shown success in improving asthma outcomes for minority children, this specific focus on non-English speaking families is relatively novel.
