What this trial studies
This study aims to identify effective strategies for implementing LGBTQ-affirmative Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at community centers across the United States. It will compare three implementation strategies: training materials only, training materials with direct training from experts, and a combination of both with local supervision. The study will utilize a type 3 hybrid implementation-effectiveness trial design, randomizing centers to receive one of the training types. Outcomes will include changes in mental health providers' skills and the impact of these strategies on client mental health over a 24-month period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are mental health providers affiliated with LGBTQ community centers who are working with sexual or gender minority clients.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include those whose providers already have substantial experience with LGBTQ-affirmative CBT.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the quality of mental health services for LGBTQ individuals by improving the training of providers in LGBTQ-affirmative CBT.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in implementing evidence-based practices in mental health settings, suggesting that this approach may also be effective.
