What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effects of speed-dependent treadmill training on dual-task performance in patients with Parkinson's disease. The study involves 105 participants who will undergo a 14-day intervention combining treadmill training and physiotherapy to enhance their walking speed and reduce bradykinesia. The primary outcome measures include improvements in gait velocity while performing dual tasks, which may lead to better management guidelines for Parkinson's disease. The trial aims to address the gap in research regarding the effectiveness of treadmill training on dual-task performance in this patient population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals with Parkinson's disease who can walk on a treadmill for 20 minutes and are cognitively able to perform required tasks.

Not a fit: Patients with severe gait impairment, cardiac issues, dementia, or a history of falls may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved mobility and reduced fear of falling for patients with Parkinson's disease.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research on speed-dependent treadmill training specifically for dual-task performance in Parkinson's disease, similar interventions have shown positive outcomes in improving mobility and balance.
