What this trial studies
This research investigates how simulation-based training affects the development of empathy and self-awareness skills in nursing students. It employs a randomized controlled experimental design to assess the effectiveness of a simulation scenario focused on elderly care. The study aims to enhance nursing students' affective learning, which is often overlooked in traditional education. By engaging in a safe and controlled environment, students will gain valuable insights into the emotional aspects of patient care, particularly for the elderly population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are nursing students who are in their fourth year of education and meet the specified academic criteria.
Not a fit: Patients who are not nursing students or those who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve the empathetic skills and self-awareness of nursing students, leading to better patient care.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on simulation in nursing education, this specific focus on empathy and self-awareness in the context of elderly care is relatively novel.
