What this trial studies
This research examines how serenity therapy affects symptom distress, coping styles, and emotional regulation in geriatric patients undergoing hemodialysis. Utilizing a randomized controlled trial design, the study will recruit patients aged 60 and older who have been on hemodialysis for at least six months. The intervention will take place at the hemodialysis unit of the National Medical Institute in Damanhur, Egypt. The goal is to assess whether this therapeutic approach can improve the emotional and psychological well-being of these patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are geriatric patients aged 60 and older who are scheduled for regular hemodialysis sessions.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone kidney transplants, are on peritoneal dialysis, or have significant communication impairments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this therapy could significantly enhance the emotional well-being and coping mechanisms of older patients undergoing hemodialysis.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on serenity therapy specifically, similar therapeutic approaches have shown promise in improving emotional health in chronic illness populations.
