What this trial studies

This study evaluates how brief telephone support affects attendance rates for physiotherapy sessions among women with pelvic floor dysfunction. Participants on the waiting list will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: one receiving a call before their invitation letter, another after, and a control group with no call. The calls will provide information about the treatment, its benefits, and allow patients to ask questions. The goal is to reduce the high non-attendance rate, which currently stands at about 50%.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are women over 18 years old who are on the waiting list for physiotherapy treatment for pelvic floor dysfunction.

Not a fit: Patients who are not on the waiting list for physiotherapy or those under 18 years old may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve attendance rates for physiotherapy, enhancing patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that pre-treatment communication can improve attendance rates, suggesting this approach may be effective.
