What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of exer gaming and Otago exercises on balance, physical performance, and gait patterns in elderly individuals aged over 55. It aims to compare the efficacy of these two interventions to determine which is more beneficial for improving health and wellbeing in the elderly population. By focusing on individuals with specific balance and cognitive criteria, the study seeks to identify effective physical therapy interventions that can mitigate dysfunctions associated with aging. The research is conducted at the RAFSAN Neuro Rehabilitation center in Peshawar, KPK.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly individuals over 55 years old with a Berg balance scale score between 21-40 and a MoCA score above 24.

Not a fit: Patients with neurological conditions, orthopedic limitations, or uncontrolled cardiac issues may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly enhance balance and physical performance in the elderly, reducing the risk of falls and improving overall quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of exer gaming and Otago exercises is novel, similar studies have shown positive outcomes in improving balance and physical performance in elderly populations.
