What this trial studies

This observational trial investigates how lung cancer treatment affects patients' physical status, symptoms, and quality of life. It will follow a sample of 150 lung cancer patients undergoing various treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. Assessments will be conducted before, during, and after treatment to evaluate changes in exercise capacity and muscle strength, as well as the relationship between physical status and other health factors. The study aims to provide insights into the mechanisms behind deconditioning in lung cancer patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are lung cancer patients undergoing treatment with a WHO performance status of 2 or less.

Not a fit: Patients with other significant health issues, such as unstable cardiac disease or orthopedic conditions that impair function, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved management strategies for maintaining physical function in lung cancer patients during treatment.

How similar studies have performed: Preliminary evidence suggests that similar studies have indicated declines in physical function during lung cancer treatment, but this specific investigation into underlying causes is novel.
