What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of delayed school start times on the sleep patterns, mental health, and daytime functioning of high school students in Norway. It is a randomized controlled trial where first-year students are assigned to either later start times on Mondays and Tuesdays or regular start times throughout the week. Participants will complete web-based surveys assessing their sleep and mental health at the beginning and end of the school year, while academic performance data will be collected from school records. The study aims to gather comprehensive data over two school years involving two cohorts of students.
