What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates how providing a 12-minute video with preparatory information affects anxiety levels and cooperative behaviors in patients undergoing heart surgery. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving the video along with usual pre-operative information and the other receiving only the usual information. The study aims to measure differences in anxiety before and after the intervention and assess cooperative behaviors during recovery in the ICU. The research will involve patients scheduled for their first heart surgery and will be conducted at Srinagarind Hospital.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for their first heart surgery who can understand communication in Thai.
Not a fit: Patients with impaired cognitive ability or those requiring emergency surgery may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help reduce anxiety and improve treatment adherence in heart surgery patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that providing preparatory information can positively impact patient anxiety and cooperation, suggesting this approach may be effective.
