What this trial studies
This study investigates how different strategies for offering vegetables affect the intake of fruits and vegetables in children aged 4-6. It explores whether vegetables are freely provided or initiated by caregivers and whether children have a choice in selecting them. Using a 2x2 factorial cross-over design, the study involves home visits, informed consent, and daily questionnaires to track vegetable consumption. A SnackBox is used to facilitate the offering of vegetables, and children's preferences are assessed through tasting sessions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 4-6 who spend time at home with a caregiver willing to participate.
Not a fit: Children with allergies or intolerances to the fruits and vegetables used in the study may not benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved dietary habits in young children, promoting better long-term health outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored dietary interventions, this specific approach to offering strategies in a home environment is relatively novel.
