What this trial studies
This study investigates how the DASH diet and progressive muscle relaxation can reduce cardiovascular risks in postmenopausal women aged 50-60 with hypertension. The DASH diet emphasizes low-fat, high-nutrient foods to help lower blood pressure, while relaxation techniques aim to reduce stress-related physiological responses. Participants will be monitored for changes in cardiovascular health markers as they follow the prescribed interventions. The study seeks to provide insights into non-pharmacologic approaches for managing hypertension in this demographic.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are postmenopausal women aged 50-60 with a body mass index of 30-35 kg/m2 and a history of hypertension.
Not a fit: Patients with severely elevated blood pressure or other underlying causes of hypertension may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly lower cardiovascular risks for postmenopausal women, improving their overall health and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes using dietary and relaxation interventions for hypertension, suggesting this approach may be effective.
