What this trial studies
This observational study examines how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the quality of life and healthcare experiences of Dutch patients who underwent surgical procedures or other interventions during 2020-2021. It consists of three phases: the first phase involves qualitative focus groups to identify key themes in patient experiences, the second phase focuses on creating and validating a questionnaire based on these themes, and the third phase involves administering the validated questionnaire to patients while linking their responses to national patient registries in various medical fields. The study aims to provide insights into the challenges faced by patients during the pandemic.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Dutch patients who underwent surgery or another medical intervention in the Netherlands during 2020 or 2021.
Not a fit: Patients who do not speak Dutch or did not undergo any surgical procedures during the specified timeframe may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of patient experiences during the pandemic, leading to improved healthcare practices and policies.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored patient experiences during the pandemic, this specific mixed-method approach is relatively novel.
