What this trial studies
This observational study aims to identify the predictors of depression among university students at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman. It will involve collecting data through self-administered questionnaires and blood samples from 397 participants. The questionnaires will assess various psychological factors, dietary patterns, and body constitution related to depression. Additionally, a subset of participants at high risk for depression will undergo further analysis to identify significant protein expressions. Written consent will be obtained from all subjects prior to participation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Malaysian university students who can read and communicate in English.
Not a fit: Patients with special education disabilities or a history of infectious diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of depression predictors, leading to better diagnosis and treatment strategies for affected students.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored predictors of depression, this specific approach combining psychological and biological factors in a university setting is relatively novel.
