What this trial studies

This observational study aims to investigate the progression and causes of interstitial lung diseases by analyzing lung tissue samples from patients on the lung transplant list. Participants will allow their discarded lung tissue to be used for research, enabling researchers to isolate specific cells and measure the cellular, molecular, and genetic mechanisms involved in lung disease. The goal is to uncover novel biomarkers that could lead to new treatments and therapeutics for advanced lung conditions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals who are on the lung transplant list.

Not a fit: Patients who are HIV positive will not benefit from this study as they are excluded from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to the development of innovative therapies for patients suffering from advanced lung diseases.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is focused on identifying novel biomarkers, similar studies have shown promise in understanding lung diseases and developing targeted therapies.
