Identifying genetic markers for cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular Diseases: Investigating the Risk Factors and Clinical Features Using Multi-omics Technologies

Observational Center for Strategic Planning, of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency · NCT06253481

This study is trying to find genetic markers that could help us understand why some people develop atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease while others do not, by looking at blood samples from a large group of participants.

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify genetic determinants associated with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) by recruiting participants from the inpatient department of the National Medical Research Center of Cardiology. Participants will be divided into two groups: those diagnosed with ASCVD and a control group without significant atherosclerotic lesions. Blood and serum samples will be collected for biobanking, and a genome-wide association study will be conducted to explore genetic markers linked to various ASCVD types. The study will involve at least 10,000 participants and will run until December 2023.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who are hospitalized and can provide informed consent.

Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, or those whose ASCVD status cannot be confirmed may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the identification of genetic markers that help in the early detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in identifying genetic markers for cardiovascular diseases, suggesting that this approach is promising.
