What this trial studies

This research aims to discover new predisposition genes associated with endocrine tumors, particularly focusing on pituitary adenomas such as acromegaly and gigantism. Patients will be recruited from various Endocrine outpatient clinics and inpatient wards, with an emphasis on those showing evidence of hereditary conditions. The study will investigate the role of the AIP gene and its interactions in the development of familial and sporadic pituitary tumors. By understanding these genetic factors, the research seeks to shed light on the mechanisms behind pituitary tumorigenesis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with familial acromegaly, early onset acromegaly, or sporadic pituitary tumors.

Not a fit: Patients who do not consent to participate will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better understanding and management of pituitary tumors, potentially improving patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in identifying genetic factors related to pituitary tumors, making this approach promising.
