What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to explore how metabolic flexibility and gut microbiome characteristics can predict the outcomes of lifestyle interventions, specifically exercise and diet, in individuals with obesity. By conducting detailed physiological assessments, the study seeks to identify specific features that correlate with successful weight loss. Participants will undergo a series of interventions, including exercise and combined exercise with dietary changes, while their metabolic responses will be closely monitored. The goal is to personalize weight loss strategies based on individual metabolic profiles to enhance effectiveness.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 25-45 with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30.

Not a fit: Patients with active cancer, diabetes, uncontrolled endocrine diseases, or those on specific therapies like corticosteroids or immune-suppressants may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective, personalized weight loss interventions for individuals living with obesity.

How similar studies have performed: While the concept of metabolic flexibility has been explored, this specific approach to predicting weight loss outcomes through metabolic and microbiome profiling is relatively novel.
