What this trial studies
This study investigates the immune, biological, and metabolic profiles of sepsis patients, particularly those in the ICU with poor prognoses. It aims to identify specific biomarkers that can help in understanding the dysregulated immune responses and metabolic changes associated with sepsis. By analyzing these profiles, the study seeks to uncover the mechanisms contributing to the severity of sepsis and improve patient outcomes. The findings could lead to better identification of high-risk patients and inform future therapeutic strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over the age of 19 who are currently sepsis patients in the ICU.
Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit from this study include those under 18 years old, organ transplant recipients, or individuals with a do not resuscitate (DNR) order.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved identification and management of high-risk sepsis patients, potentially reducing mortality rates.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in identifying biomarkers in sepsis, but this specific approach focusing on immunometabolic profiles is relatively novel.
