What this trial studies

This research project investigates the DNA methylation mechanisms that contribute to reduced fertility due to declining oocyte quality. The goal is to develop an epigenetic clock for mature germ cells (MGCs) by analyzing blood samples, ensuring a non-invasive approach that can be clinically applicable. The study will explore various aspects of female infertility through multiple studies conducted in different settings to identify a specific blood epigenetic signature that can predict infertility outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are women aged 18 to 43 who are experiencing infertility and undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) or have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 or over 44, those with previous ovarian surgery, or severe male factor infertility may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a reliable blood test for predicting female infertility, aiding in early diagnosis and treatment.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using blood epigenetic signatures for predicting infertility is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in other areas of reproductive health.
