What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of consuming hydrogen-infused water over a four-week period on endurance performance, hydration biomarkers, and health-related quality of life in healthy young adults. Participants, who are collegiate athletes with significant training experience, will be randomly assigned to either the hydrogen-infused water group or a placebo group. The study aims to measure various outcomes to determine if hydrogen-infused water offers advantages over standard hydration methods. The findings could provide insights into the potential benefits of hydrogen-infused water for athletic performance and overall well-being.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy collegiate athletes aged 18 to 29 with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 who engage in more than 5 hours of exercise per week.
Not a fit: Patients with major chronic diseases, acute disorders, or those who have used dietary supplements recently may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance athletic performance and hydration strategies for young athletes.
How similar studies have performed: While the concept of hydrogen-infused water is relatively novel, similar studies exploring hydration methods have shown varying degrees of success.
