Hybrid intubation techniques for children with difficult airways
Fiberoptic Intubation With Simultaneous Video-laryngoscopy Versus Through a Supraglottic Airway in Children With a Difficult Airway: a Randomized Controlled Trial
This study is testing two different ways to help doctors successfully place breathing tubes in young children who might have trouble during surgery to see which method works better and causes fewer problems.

What this trial studies
This study compares two hybrid intubation techniques for children who are expected to have difficult intubation during routine surgeries. One technique involves using flexible bronchoscopy-guided intubation with a video laryngoscope, while the other uses a laryngeal mask. The goal is to increase the success rates of first-attempt intubation and reduce complications associated with difficult airway management in pediatric patients. The study will involve children aged 1 month to less than 12 years.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 1 month to less than 12 years who are anticipated to have a difficult intubation during surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with limited mouth opening or those whose parents do not consent to participation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve the safety and effectiveness of intubation procedures in children with difficult airways.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise with similar hybrid approaches, indicating potential for success in this area.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Children from 1 month of age to less than 12 years of age who are expected to have a difficult intubation when undergoing routine surgery under general anesthesia. Exclusion Criteria: * When there is limited mouth opening, making it difficult to insert supraglottic airway ② The patient or their parents do not agree to participate in the study. ③ Other cases deemed unsuitable by the researcher
