How long orthodontic correction for anterior open bite lasts
Orthodontic Correction of Anterior Open-bite, Treatment Outcome Stability and Impact of Anterior Open Bite Malocclusion
University of Helsinki · NCT07567105

What this trial studies
This is an observational study following people with a current or past clinical diagnosis of anterior open bite to document treatment outcomes and day-to-day impacts. Researchers will collect clinical records and patient-reported information about function, appearance, and the burden of care after orthodontic treatment. Patients with craniofacial genetic anomalies are excluded to focus on typical open-bite cases. The work is conducted through the University of Helsinki in collaboration with Vantaa and Keravan Wellbeing Services County in Vantaa and Kerava.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults or children with a current or past clinical diagnosis of anterior open bite who do not have a craniofacial genetic anomaly and who can participate through Vantaa or Kerava services.
Not a fit: People without an anterior open bite or those with craniofacial genetic syndromes are unlikely to benefit from the study's results.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help patients and clinicians choose treatments that are more likely to remain stable and reduce long-term care needs.
How similar studies have performed: Previous observational studies of open-bite treatment stability have reported mixed results, so this study aims to add real-world data to the existing, not yet definitive, evidence base.
