What this trial studies

Adult women who are victims of physical and/or psychological domestic violence and who speak French are interviewed and complete standardized questionnaires during a single one-hour visit. First, a clinician collects sociodemographic data and medical/violence history and administers the MADRS depression scale in a 30-minute interview. Immediately afterward participants complete four computerized self-questionnaires (Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, a dehumanization-in-romantic-relationships scale, a self-esteem scale, and a violentometer) plus an Implicit Association Test over about 30 minutes. Data are collected at CH Henri Laborit and CHU Poitiers after the patient gives non-opposition to participate.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adult women (18+) who are victims of physical and/or psychological domestic violence, are consulting for that reason, speak and understand French, and are covered by a social security scheme.

Not a fit: Patients under legal protection measures, those with disabling mental or cognitive disorders, or those employed by the investigator are excluded and would not participate or benefit from this research.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could help identify psychological barriers to reporting and guide better support and outreach for survivors.

How similar studies have performed: Similar questionnaire- and IAT-based methods have been used in trauma and interpersonal violence research, but applying them specifically to self-dehumanization and reporting hesitation is relatively novel.
