What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a home-based video cardiac rehabilitation program for elderly patients recovering from coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. It focuses on improving health-related quality of life and enhancing therapeutic self-care among patients diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD). The intervention involves researchers visiting participants at home to provide support and monitor progress. The study addresses the unique challenges faced by older adults post-surgery, including physical and psychological issues.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 60 years or older, diagnosed with CAD, and recommended for elective CABG, who have intact cognitive function.

Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone CABG or demonstrate cognitive dysfunctions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the recovery and quality of life for elderly patients after cardiac surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with home-based rehabilitation approaches, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
