What this trial studies
This study investigates the feasibility and effectiveness of a blended care approach for children with unilateral cerebral palsy, incorporating constrained induced movement therapy in a pirate-themed setting. The intervention includes both in-clinic sessions and home-based training to enhance the use of the affected arm and hand. The program aims to engage children through a fun and motivating theme while assessing the perceptions of parents and therapists regarding this blended care model. The study focuses on children aged 2.5 to 8 years who are receiving treatment at the Sint Maartenskliniek.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 2.5 to 8 years with unilateral cerebral palsy and a MACS score of I, II, or III.
Not a fit: Patients with cognitive developmental ages below 2 or those unable to walk independently without assistance may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could improve motor function and engagement in therapy for children with unilateral cerebral palsy.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific blended care approach is novel, previous studies on constrained induced movement therapy have shown positive outcomes.
