What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a home-based e-rehabilitation program called OTHER compared to standard occupational therapy for older adults recovering from a stroke. Participants will be assessed on their self-perceived performance in daily activities over a 24-week period, with evaluations occurring at 4, 13, and 26 weeks. The study will also measure improvements in satisfaction with daily performance and physical activity levels. The goal is to determine if the OTHER intervention can provide better outcomes than traditional therapy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are community-dwelling older adults aged 60 and above who can walk a few steps with or without assistance and have a cognitive assessment score of at least 16.
Not a fit: Patients who are terminally ill, have severe aphasia, or have been deemed legally incapable by a geriatric doctor may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the recovery and daily functioning of older adults post-stroke.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using e-rehabilitation for stroke recovery, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
