Home-based cardiac rehabilitation using spot jogging
Comparison of the Effectiveness Between Home-based Cardiac Rehabilitation With Spot-jogging and Outpatient Center-Based Cardiac Rehabilitation in Patients With Heart Failure.
This study is testing if a home-based exercise program using spot jogging can help heart failure patients improve their fitness and heart health better than traditional rehab at a clinic.

What this trial studies
This pilot study investigates the physiological changes in heart failure patients during cardiopulmonary exercise tests using spot jogging compared to standard stationary bike tests. It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of home-based cardiac rehabilitation with varying step frequencies and toe lifts against traditional outpatient center-based rehabilitation. The study will recruit 40 heart failure patients who will be randomly assigned to either home-based or outpatient rehabilitation groups, with both groups undergoing specific exercise tests and training regimens over several weeks. The goal is to assess improvements in exercise capacity and overall heart health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are heart failure patients over 18 years old who have completed a stationary bike cardiopulmonary exercise test and are referred for phase II cardiac rehabilitation.
Not a fit: Patients with atrial fibrillation, neurological or musculoskeletal issues affecting physical activity, those undergoing dialysis, or those with pacemakers may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a more accessible and effective rehabilitation option for heart failure patients.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in home-based rehabilitation for heart failure patients, indicating potential for success.
