What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of high-intensity functional training (HIFT) on both functional and cognitive performance in individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The research aims to compare the benefits of HIFT against conventional strength, balance, and cognitive training programs. By focusing on multimodal exercises, the study seeks to enhance agility, coordination, and movement precision, which are crucial for daily living. The overall goal is to determine if HIFT can significantly improve the quality of life and reduce dependency in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 45 to 80 with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease in stages I or II who can walk independently for at least 10 minutes.

Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive disorders, vestibular issues affecting balance, or those who are sedentary may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to significant improvements in both physical and cognitive abilities for patients with Parkinson's disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with high-intensity interval training in other populations, suggesting potential for success with high-intensity functional training in Parkinson's disease.
