What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of home-based heat therapy on individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) to improve cardiometabolic functions and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Participants aged 45-75 with a diagnosis of T2DM will undergo heat exposure through thermoneutral and hot water treatments over a specified period. The study aims to build on previous findings that suggest heat exposure can enhance metabolic functions and vascular health. By exploring this lifestyle intervention, the research seeks to provide an alternative approach to managing diabetes-related complications.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 45-75 with a stable diagnosis of type 2 diabetes for at least one year.
Not a fit: Patients with class 3 obesity, uncontrolled hypertension, or severe complications related to diabetes may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could offer a novel, non-pharmacological method to improve metabolic health and reduce cardiovascular risks in patients with type 2 diabetes.
How similar studies have performed: While there has been limited research on heat therapy for T2DM, previous studies in animal models and a few human studies suggest potential benefits, indicating this approach is still relatively novel.
