What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a real-time continuous glucose monitor (CGM) integrated into a healthy lifestyle program for adults with prediabetes at the YMCA. Over 26 weeks, participants will attend weekly health coaching sessions, engage in physical activities, and complete questionnaires while wearing a CGM. The study will compare glucose levels, dietary habits, and physical activity between those using the CGM and those who are not. The primary outcomes include improvements in glucose control and lifestyle changes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older diagnosed with prediabetes.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant, have previously used a CGM, or have certain medical conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in individuals with prediabetes.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that lifestyle interventions can effectively reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes, but the use of CGM in this context is a novel approach.
