What this trial studies

This intervention aims to improve healthy eating and physical activity among Ultra-Orthodox Jewish women in Israel, who face unique health challenges exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is based on the CDC's Diabetes Prevention Program and employs low-tech media, partner learning, and group support to facilitate behavior change. Participants work in pairs, receiving a pedometer and workbook to track their progress, and engage in weekly group meetings to share experiences and problem-solve. The study evaluates the effectiveness of this culturally-tailored approach in promoting healthier lifestyles.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Ultra-Orthodox Jewish women aged 18-85 who are willing to commit to the lifestyle intervention.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have severe mental health conditions or certain chronic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to improved health behaviors and outcomes for Ultra-Orthodox Jewish women.

How similar studies have performed: While similar culturally-tailored interventions have shown promise, this specific approach during the COVID-19 pandemic is relatively novel.
