What this trial studies
Healthcare workers (physicians, nurses, and housekeepers) at Aswan Faculty of Medicine who have direct contact with blood or body fluids will receive a health education intervention about post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Participants' knowledge, attitudes, and reported PEP practices will be measured before and after the educational sessions to document change. The intervention focuses on recognition of exposures, timely use of PEP, and infection-control precautions to reduce occupational transmission risks. The study targets routine workplace training rather than pharmaceutical or device interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Healthcare workers aged 18–60 at Aswan Faculty of Medicine who have direct contact with blood or body fluids (physicians, nurses, housekeepers).
Not a fit: Non-medical staff, people outside the 18–60 age range, and healthcare workers without contact with blood or body fluids are not expected to benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the education could increase timely PEP use and reduce occupational infections among healthcare workers.
How similar studies have performed: Educational interventions have improved PEP knowledge and reported practices in other settings, though rigorous data from developing regions like Egypt remain limited.
