Healing after pilonidal cyst surgery with a 1940 nm laser

Evaluation of the Healing of the Pilonidal Cyst After 1940 nm Laser Treatment

GCS Ramsay Santé pour l'Enseignement et la Recherche · NCT07269548

What this trial studies

This observational study collects clinical outcomes from patients who underwent pilonidal cyst surgery using a 1940 nm laser to examine postoperative healing and complication rates. Patients with prior pilonidal surgery, those treated for an acute abscess, and those enrolled in other therapeutic protocols are excluded. Clinical data such as wound healing time, postoperative pain, infection rates, and need for reintervention will be recorded and analyzed without randomization or a comparison group. The work is conducted at Clinique de la Sauvegarde in Lyon and relies on patient consent for data collection and follow-up.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who consented to data collection and who underwent primary pilonidal cyst surgery with the 1940 nm laser at the study center, excluding emergency abscess cases.

Not a fit: Patients with previous pilonidal surgery, those treated for an acute abscess, or patients who did not receive the 1940 nm laser are unlikely to benefit from results of this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could shorten healing time and reduce postoperative complications after pilonidal cyst surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Laser-based ablation for pilonidal disease using other wavelengths has shown promising results in some series, but published data specifically on the 1940 nm wavelength are limited and this application is relatively novel.
