What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates the impact of a 2-hour small group discussion for parents and caregivers of adolescents in Oregon. The focus is on reducing disordered eating symptoms, mood symptoms, and improving parent-child relationship quality. Participants will be compared to a waitlist control group to assess the effectiveness of the intervention on both caregivers and their children. The study aims to gather insights on how these discussions can foster better health outcomes for families.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents or caregivers of adolescents aged 12-17 who live in Oregon and can participate in English.

Not a fit: Patients who do not have a child aged 12-17 or those who are not primary caregivers may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could lead to improved mental health and eating behaviors for both parents and their children.

How similar studies have performed: While similar approaches have been explored, this specific intervention targeting parent-child dynamics in disordered eating is relatively novel.
